Australia VS Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Update

Sri Lanka have decimated the Australian top order with extremely good bowling. Currently Australia are in tatters at 91/6 after 28 overs. Kulasekera has figures of 1/10 off 6, while Matthews has taken 2/21 off 9, Perera 1/21 off 6 and Malinga 1/21 off 4. Bailey and Hussey were so far the only Australian batsman to get into double figures. Bailey made 26 before hitting a pull shot straight to midwicket, while Hussey made 29 before another ridiculous run-out. I really don't know how such a simple skill of running between the wickets is being this problematic for a world class team. It is just not good enough! Mind you credit has to go to Dilshan for his direct hit.

The selection of Steve Smith for Khawaja really has to be questioned. Yes pick Smith, in order to give him an opportunity, but why drop a batsman for him. If Smith is going to be in the team, then Maxwell should have been the man out. A middle order of Bailey, Hussey, Smith and Maxwell just doesn't provide enough batting depth.

Sri Lanka have undoubtedly stepped up from their disappointing performance in Melbourne. If they can keep Australia to less than 150 then they really should cruise to victory. Australia would be hoping to get to at least 150 to have a target to bowl to, but the combination of an experienced Sri Lankan batting line up and an inexperienced Australian bowling line up means Sri Lanka are heavy favourites to level the series at 1-1.
