Australia make 305/5

Australia made 305/5 on the back of a brilliant century by debutant Phillip Hughes in the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka at the MCG today. Hughes made 112 off 129 balls in the process becoming the first Australian to score a ton on debut in a One Day International. Around Hughes, stand-in skipper Bailey made an excellent 89 off only 79 balls to steer the chase. Meanwhile at the end David Hussey (in a way not too dissimilar to his brother Mike) brought the innings home by smashing 60* off 34 balls. For Sri Lanka no bowler took more than one wicket with there being no real standout.

It will be a tough chase for Sri Lanka, but they definitely have the ability to do it. If they can get on  top of Australia's relatively inexperienced bowling line-up then they have a massive shot!
