Australia smash Sri Lanka by 107 runs
Australia has proved its naysayers wrong by smashing their more experienced counterparts by the hefty margin of 107 runs. Phillip Hughes scored a ton on debut, while George Bailey and David Hussey ensured the score would reach 305. Nonetheless many of those runs were hardly needed with Sri Lanka only making 198 before being bowled out in the 40th over. Dinesh Chandimal played well for his 73, as did Dilshan for his 51, but a calamitous middle order collapse of run-outs really set them back. McKay was the pick of the bowlers for the aussies with 4-33 from his 8 overs. Phillip Hughes though was Man of the Match for his debut ton.
A pretty disappointing match for the Sri Lankans who had high hopes that they could win considering their recent good form at the MCG and also the home side's inexperience. Ultimately though these factors proved irrelevant with this so called 'Australia B' team winning comfortably.
