Update: Australian Crisis

Michael Clarke has said that the latest misdemeanour was not an isolated incident and there had been numerous examples of players failing to meet standards during this tour. That's pretty damning if players are being sloppy in their preparation for a big test series. Mickey Arthur just said the other day that before the tour he told the players that this would be the toughest test series of their lives. You know what their response was. They laughed. That really does sum up the current attitude and culture that exists in the team. So in that regard at least a stand is being made.

Shane Watson has flown home, although it is due to the impending birth of his first child. He has said he is going to consider his cricketing future and there are rumours that he may in fact quit test matches. Whether this happens or not is debatable, but one thing that would be likely to happen is for him to be replaced as vice-captain. I don't think a vice-captain of the team should be failing to meet standards, so his long-term future in the role would be in some danger you would think.
